NEW Wahine Fitness Session

CCY will meet tomorrow, February 25 at 8am in Kailua Beach Parking lot. NEW eight week Wahine Fitness Session begins March 8 - check out Classes for more details and join us! New Rules for Weight Management and Women: A recent study published by The Journal of the American Medical Association (2010; 303 [21] 1173-79) announced that women should average 60 minutes of moderate-intensity activity daily in order to avoid long-term weight gain. This seems overwhelming, right? Think about it this way - Lava Fit runs every Tuesday and Thursday and does intense conditioning on Friday (soon to be Wednesday and Friday). That's three to four days of intense activity! YAY! Instead of focusing on rules and regulations for achieving a perfect body, focus on exercising for health. Also remember that a balanced diet has a lot to do with weight management. Lava Your Life!

Live, Love and Laugh

It's almost Friday! Meet us at 8am in Kailua Beach Parking lot for CCY. So far we've received a lot of positive feedback and are very happy you're pleased with the class. Because of the great response, we are considering adding another day of conditioning. Stay tuned for details and feel free to provide your opinion! I recently read an article about the "blue zones" of the world - areas where people live measurably longer than in the rest of the world. Researchers have found common behaviors believed to help you live a longer, better life: 1. Make regular activity intrinsic to your daily routine 2. Have a "Plan de Vida", i.e., a mission or purpose that gives meaning to your life 3. Take your life out of the fast lane: work less, slow down, rest, take vacations 4. Eat less by following the "80% rule" (Stop eating when you're 80% full) 5. Shift your diet to more veggies and fruits, less protein and fewer processed foods 6. Drink red win

Lace Up

Bring yourself and a resistance band to CCY on Friday, February 11 at 8am. We meet in Kailua Beach parking lot (across from Buzz's) - do 30 minutes of Cardio, 30 minutes of Conditioning and 30 minutes of Yoga. If you don't have a resistance band, please email and let me know - I'll bring one for you. Five Reasons to Lace Up and Hit the Road: 1. People who run more than 35 miles a week are 54 percent less likely to suffer age-related vision loss than those who cover 10 miles a week. 2. Running strengthens bones better than other aerobic activities, say University of Missouri researchers who compared the bone density of runners and cyclists. Sixty-three percent of the cyclists had low density in their spine or hips; only 19 percent of runners did. 3. Insomniacs fell asleep in 17 minutes on days they ran, compared to 38 minutes on days they didn't. They also slept for an extra hour on days they exercised. 4. Runners who log a weekly run of 10 miles (or more) ar
