Every Season Has A Reason

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! Hope you all had an adventurous yet relaxing summer.
Let's AIM to have a healthy and fun Fall. LavaFit will be in session again this season (our third, and sadly last, Fall Session in TN) beginning on Wednesday, August 21 at 9:15am, same location. For now we'll stick with workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday... we'll revisit if the season gets hectic. 
AIM is a high intensity interval training (HIIT) program. This program will never let your body grow complacent - your muscles will never know what to expect, so they (and you) will be continually challenged. 
AIM combines metabolic conditioning and strength training using bodyweight movements, plyometrics, dumbbells, barre and running.
Remove the hassle of creating your own workouts and focus on having fun and reaching your goals. Your coach will create each workout and also track your progress. All workouts have scaling options to support your personal level of fitness.
All fitness levels are welcome! Also, the more people we have at each workout, the more fun it is, so please invite your friends. First class is always free. 

When: MWF from 9:15-10:15am beginning Wednesday, August 21

AIM to be...

Stronger, Faster, Agile, Happy... GREATER!

AIM has been in session for 172 classes. We've built muscles, endurance and friendships. We've worked out in suffocating Tennessee heat as well as bone-chilling, tundra-like conditions. The military has taken some of our amazing ladies to new places, but we've also gained beautiful new members.

These ladies are my heros. They show up, they push themselves, and they become GREATER.

AIM to do more!

The kids are back to school. Let the schedules and routines begin!

Awesome work to all the ladies who sweated it out this summer at AIM! The heat continues and so do our workouts. With the beginning of school, AIM will be following a more periodized training schedule. This training method helps you move progressively from one phase to the next, resulting in a peak fitness stage at the end. Periodized training also provides variety and sufficient periods of rest, both necessary components in avoiding plateaus and overtraining.
Remember, fitness is a journey and consistency is key. You will not realize the same results from hit and miss working out. Consistency is key to realizing the many benefits of exercise.

What's Your Summer Plan?

Yes, school ends soon but that doesn't mean your routine has to end.
Most of us thrive on a routine and schedule - I feel you! Consistency is KEY.

AIM has been going strong in TN since August 2017.  As of April 25, 2018 we've worked out through rain, shine, humidity, below freezing temps, snow, ice, pollen... 80 TIMES! That, my friends, is dedication and consistency. These ladies are my heroes.

This summer we will keep it going, though we'll probably pick workout days and times on a week-by-week basis because of vacations and kid camps, etc.
We will probably start the workouts earlier than 9:15am to beat the heat and children are welcome *
I'm also tossing around the idea of running a kids class after the adult class - stay tuned!

Tell your friends, the more fit friends the better! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

*I believe in family fitness and want you to bring your kids so they can see what an awesome role model their mom/parent is! With more kids possibly coming to the workout with their parent, I would appreciate if parents share my rules with their kiddos prior to classes - I want to keep all our kids safe and I want all adults to get a good workout. Please make sure your child/children stay out of the adult workout area and not touch any of the equipment (yoga mats, weights, etc).

Lava Fit is excited to be in a new, active neighborhood right outside of Memphis, TN. Is it warm? Sort of. Is it hot? Absolutely. We are sweating and embracing it.

6 week fitness program

I'm excited to announce my first fitness class on the East Coast. If you are ready to step into a healthier YOU, then the FIT Program is perfect!

Hello From the Other Side

Yes, it's me. I know it's been quite some time. But I swear I have excuses.
Let's see, my family made a big move from Hawaii to Connecticut in February 2015. Actually, all our belongings began their voyage the same week as we did, however we didn't see our own things til June 2015. We sadly left Hawaii, stopped in Georgia for a week, then onto CT where we stayed for a few weeks in March 2015 (our kids were excited it was still snowing, the rest of the east coast was NOT!). We got to know our new CrossFit gym and even had an adult getaway to NYC!
On Good Friday we packed up and moved to Virginia for the summer - making a pit stop in DC. We lived in a 'furnished' place in VA and the kids were able to run around and play. We joined a CrossFit gym there too and met some great people, made some trips to VA Beach, NC, Great Wolf Lodge, Gettysburg... some fun adventures.
Then in June we made the trek back to CT and moved into our new home. What an amazing summer! A lot of paddle boarding and beach time since it's across the street from us.
We are really enjoying life here... good schools, nice people and I was even able to begin coaching at our CrossFit.
Now it's January and the snow has started falling - but it's all good. I bought a treadmill and it's my adult-time... I 'veg' out in front of the TV, watching MY show and getting in some sprints.
