LavaFit is HOME


LavaFit returned home to Hawaii in June 2020... this is where I created LavaFit in 2010 but since then LavaFit has taken fitness to CT and TN. It's been an amazing journey, but I'm happy to be home. That said, Covid is still in full swing and life seems somewhat unpredictable. For me, things aren't weird, they're just different. In order to keep life moving, we must create new routines and that routine MUST include moving our bodies! Movement is the song of the body. 

With that said, LavaFit will soon be restarting LavaFit Virtual Workouts! Because I am now in Hawaii and @5-6 hours behind the east coast, I am figuring out ways to include clients from all across the country. There will still be LIVE classes, but I will also offer pre-recorded workouts. Personal training will be an option (in-person if you're in Hawaii) and eventually nutrition coaching too!

The aim is to begin LavaFit Virtual Workouts the last week of August (August 24)... they will be the same format as before: warm up, challenge, workout, core/burner, and cool down stretch. As your coach, I create each workout with modifications to include ALL fitness levels. I also keep track of all your scores from each challenge and at the end of the session, you'll get to see your progress. 

I'm so excited to 'see' your faces and MOVE together again!

Continuing Virtual AIM

We did it! We quarantined for 4 weeks while continuing our workouts! Pat yourself on the back. However, this pandemic isn't over yet - and with that in mind, we will continue our Virtual AIM Workouts via Zoom. 
Over the past 4 weeks, we've had 12 virtual workouts (Free Saturday workouts included) with people from 5 different states! I think that's pretty awesome and a major perk to all the craziness Covid created. 
These workouts are open to ALL! No matter where you live. No matter how young or old you are. No matter how 'fit' you think you are or aren't. These workouts can be modified to anyone - I'm there to create and show modifications. The main reason for these workouts is to promote movement. Move it or lose it.

Change is inevitable. Change is constant. Change is a necessary part of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become...
Yes, this is all true... but slightly hard to comprehend right now.

For the past 2 years, my normal was meeting my fitness group in my driveway on MWF and leading them through a workout. However, things changed this past month. I understand how important it is for all of us to stay home. I also understand how important it is for us to stay healthy right now... physically AND mentally. There are many ways to do this... but for me it's keeping a routine.

SO, starting TOMORROW (April 14) we will resume our AIM workouts via Zoom and I can now open it up to anyone and everyone! Sign up and pay online HERE

Abs ARE Made in the Kitchen

You hear it all the time - Abs are made in the kitchen.
I stand behind this. If you find you're putting forth the effort in your workouts but not seeing the results you want, try changing up your diet/nutrition. Oh, and drink more water.
Balance your nutrition with your fitness and you will make improvements and reach your goals.

My family has been trying to eat more meatless meals. I tend to eat mostly vegetarian, but recently we watched "The Game Changers" on Netflix and it made sense to us. So my husband and I have decided to switch up the way we're eating. I'd say we always eat clean, but we're trying more plant based meals and snacks now. It's working well for us and yes, my husband is loving it too! We're finding we feel better after eating, we're sleeping better and recovering better after workouts.

With that said, I have many vegetarian/vegan meals listed here on the blog. So does my friend Active Epicurean. Also, here's another recipe I created and made last night... SO GOOD and SO EASY.

Every Season Has A Reason

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! Hope you all had an adventurous yet relaxing summer.
Let's AIM to have a healthy and fun Fall. LavaFit will be in session again this season (our third, and sadly last, Fall Session in TN) beginning on Wednesday, August 21 at 9:15am, same location. For now we'll stick with workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday... we'll revisit if the season gets hectic. 
AIM is a high intensity interval training (HIIT) program. This program will never let your body grow complacent - your muscles will never know what to expect, so they (and you) will be continually challenged. 
AIM combines metabolic conditioning and strength training using bodyweight movements, plyometrics, dumbbells, barre and running.
Remove the hassle of creating your own workouts and focus on having fun and reaching your goals. Your coach will create each workout and also track your progress. All workouts have scaling options to support your personal level of fitness.
All fitness levels are welcome! Also, the more people we have at each workout, the more fun it is, so please invite your friends. First class is always free.

AIM to be...

Stronger, Faster, Agile, Happy... GREATER!

AIM has been in session for 172 classes. We've built muscles, endurance and friendships. We've worked out in suffocating Tennessee heat as well as bone-chilling, tundra-like conditions. The military has taken some of our amazing ladies to new places, but we've also gained beautiful new members.

These ladies are my heros. They show up, they push themselves, and they become GREATER.

AIM to do more!

The kids are back to school. Let the schedules and routines begin!

Awesome work to all the ladies who sweated it out this summer at AIM! The heat continues and so do our workouts. With the beginning of school, AIM will be following a more periodized training schedule. This training method helps you move progressively from one phase to the next, resulting in a peak fitness stage at the end. Periodized training also provides variety and sufficient periods of rest, both necessary components in avoiding plateaus and overtraining.
Remember, fitness is a journey and consistency is key. You will not realize the same results from hit and miss working out. Consistency is key to realizing the many benefits of exercise.
